At St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School, our Ninth Grade Bridge program offers a unique start to high school life, helping students transition smoothly and form connections that last a lifetime.
The Ninth Grade Bridge program is a specialized initiative designed to ensure inclusion for new students and encourage all freshmen to expand their social circles. Throughout the year, ninth graders gather three days a week to eat lunch as a class, enjoying time to connect and bond with their peers.
Additionally, students participate in rotating small groups, engaging in fun games like Jeopardy and minute-to-win-it challenges, while also taking part in guided discussions that promote personal connections. These activities are supported by a dedicated team of seniors, known as “Peer Leaders,” who help make sure everyone is actively involved and feels a sense of belonging.
The program culminates in an action-packed day at Bretton Woods, a scenic sports and recreational facility along the Potomac River. This memorable day of team-building activities, including both high and low ropes course challenges, allowed students to work together, face fears, and share laughs as a finale to their bonding journey.
Through these shared experiences, the Ninth Grade Bridge program ensures that every student feels welcomed and supported as they begin their high school journey, surrounded by friends and a strong sense of community.
